Chegg is a student-first learning platform that offers college students homework help, textbook rentals, and other services. In the past two years I worked there as a freelance contractor, I designed a wide range of assets, including marketing emails, onsite banners, landing pages, social media ads, and logos for various campaigns.

Digest & Chegg Perks

At Chegg, there were two ongoing email marketing initiatives that I supported: The Learning Curve and Chegg Perks. While The Learning Curve emails were sent biweekly to engage non-subscribers with helpful articles and new product updates, Chegg Perks was a benefits program that offered exclusive perks to subscribers through brand partnerships with companies like Max, Tinder, and DoorDash. I created these emails using a "bento box" layout that rotated partner logos while keeping the Chegg brand front and center.

Though the bento box format offered structure, it had its limitations. We broke away from the layout, bringing in bold graphics that went beyond the box and fun motion graphics that made the designs feel more vibrant and inviting.

The Impact

Through the usage of illustration, motion, and live photography, we elevated the brand’s visual language to showcase its offerings in a style that connected more deeply with its student audience.

Get a grip campaign

For spring 2025, I designed assets for a brand campaign to introduce a new face to the company: Ace the octopus. This campaign marked a bold new shift in the company’s visual storytelling and as a result, required blending character, color, and movement to make Ace feel as real and helpful as the brand itself. The ads I worked on were primarily for social media platforms, including Instagram and Reddit.
